Sometimes cooking dinner feels grounding and therapeutic. Other times, it’s just another item on a never-ending to-do list. During busy weeks, months, or even years, it can be hard to show up the way we want to—especially when energy and attention are pulled in so many directions. Those are the times when we need extra support.
If you’re fortunate, that support might come from family or close friends nearby. But many families today live far from extended relatives, and finding a truly supportive community is rare. In my own home, when we see a stretch of travel or deadlines coming, we start planning ahead. We look for ways to ease the pressure before it builds.
I cook for families who need support during those busy seasons of life. Whether it’s just for a week or something more long-term, I’m here to provide food that’s nourishing, beautiful, and made with care. I want to cook the kind of meals that light me up creatively, and share them with clients who genuinely enjoy them. Not everyone can afford or even wants a full-time private chef. And many personal chefs are stretched thin between multiple households, trying to meet a wide range of preferences and dietary needs.
That’s where my model comes in.
Meal kits are great when you want a bit of structure without starting from scratch. My parents use them and enjoy the simplicity of following a recipe and having most of the ingredients ready to go.
But eventually, they get tired of the same chicken recipes on repeat. And while kits offer ease, they still require you to do the cooking, and deal with all the excess packaging. Those little plastic containers and liners add up fast.
Hiring a private chef is ideal when you want someone cooking fresh meals in your home every day. It’s fully customized, high-touch service, and a true luxury experience.
Of course, it comes at a luxury price point and usually requires someone being in your home regularly. For some, that’s exactly what they want. For others, it feels like too much.
Personal chefs are a great in-between. They typically prepare a set number of meals in your home or offsite, deliver them, and tailor everything to your dietary needs.
But here’s the challenge, most personal chefs can only take on a few clients at a time. They spend much of their week juggling grocery runs, coordinating menus, and cooking different meals for each household. It’s a beautiful service, but one that can lead to burnout and repetitive menus.
Service Type | Organic Ingredients | Local Sourcing | Grass-Fed / Pastured Meats | Packaging |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Meal Kits | Rarely | Rarely | Rarely | Lots of plastic & single-use |
| Takeout / Restaurants | Rarely | Rarely | Rarely | Plastic, foam, bags |
| Private Chef | Yes (if requested) | Sometimes | Yes (if prioritized) | Varies by chef |
| Personal Chef | Sometimes | Sometimes | Sometimes | Mix of reusable/disposable |
| Gold Dust Provisions | Always | Yes | Yes | Glass jars, zero plastic |
My batch-cooked meal delivery service blends the best of both worlds. I plan a fresh, creative menu each week, inspired by what’s in season at the markets near me. I shop for all my clients in one day (well, across multiple stores, let’s be honest), then cook and deliver everything in reusable glass containers.
This model gives me space to be thoughtful and focused. It lets me pour my energy into crafting food that’s not just healthy, but exciting. And it lets families step away from the mental load of “what’s for dinner” without having to commit to a full-time chef or prep everything themselves.
Hiring a chef, whether personal, private, or part of a meal delivery service, means placing a lot of trust in someone else’s hands. And here’s the truth: unless your chef is deeply aligned with your values around food quality, sourcing, and sustainability, those standards might not consistently be met. I’ve worked in many kitchens and looked inside a lot of fridges, and the reality is this, premium ingredients cut heavily into the bottom line. Without a pricing model that supports organic produce, pasture-raised meats, and true scratch cooking, compromises are often made. Unless a client is hands-on in the grocery process or asking the right questions, it can be hard to know what you’re really being served. That’s why it’s so important to find someone whose values align with yours. Look for a chef who is as invested in your food quality as you are—and who has built their entire business model around making that level of care sustainable.
I’ve cooked in some of the most exclusive kitchens, designing fully customized menus for billionaires, sourcing rare ingredients, and adjusting dishes down to the smallest detail. I’ve lived in the world of 24/7 personalization. But what I’ve learned is that customization alone doesn’t guarantee quality. True nourishment requires intention: ingredients carefully sourced, food prepared with skill, and a chef who actually cares about what you’re eating. That’s what I’m bringing to the table with Gold Dust Provisions. A new model that blends fine dining standards with everyday wellness, for families who value both.

If this resonates with you, or someone you know who’s doing it all, send them this post. Sometimes the most generous thing we can do is take something off someone’s plate… or in this case, put something nourishing on it.
